The first meeting between the Italian Tsunami Ready National Board (NTRB) and the Local Board of the Municipality of Minturno [IT] (in Regione Lazio, overlooking the central Tyrrhenian Sea) was held yesterday, 21 July 2021. The goal of the meeting was to officially start the path towards the "Tsunami Ready” risk mitigation program.

The meeting, held by teleconference, involved the NTRB (Luigi D'angelo-DPC, Alessandro Amato-INGV and Maurizio Ferla-ISPRA) and the Local Board deliberated by the municipality of Minturno in 03.06.2021, one of the three Italian municipalities joining the program (other than the Palmi municipality in Calabria and the Pachino municipality, specifically the Marzamemi locality, in Sicily) located in moderate and high tsunami hazard zones.

During the meeting, the mayor of Minturno and his staff illustrated the results  achieved to date and shared the future steps that will lead the community to the "Tsunami Ready'' recognition, through the achievement of the twelve indicators identified by UNESCO guidelines.
