A 7.0 magnitude earthquake was located by INGV's Tsunami Alert Center (CAT) at 12:51 (Italian time) today, October 30, 2020. The epicenter was located in the sea, north of Samos Island (Greece) about 10km depth. Due to the high magnitude, 8 minutes after the earthquake, a red level tsunami alert (Watch) was issued by CAT-INGV for the Dodecanese islands and the Turkish coast along the Aegean Sea, while the alert level is orange (Advisory) for other regions of Greece and Turkey.

At 14:14 Italian time, CAT-INGV issued a message confirming the tsunami, which was observed at the Syros mareograph (Greece).

It is unlikely that the tsunami will have a significant impact on the other Mediterranean coasts (including Italy) to which the INGV has sent an information message (Green).
