The first workshop of the NEAM-Commitment project, dedicated to strengthening emergency preparedness and management in a complex, multi-hazard scenario such as that of the island, has concluded on Stromboli. During the meeting, particular attention was paid to tsunami hazard, one of the main coastal risks in the area.

The event was organized by the INGV Tsunami Alert Center, with the support of the Municipality of Lipari and the Department of Civil Protection, and included the active participation of researchers, local authorities, institutional representatives, and members of the Stromboli community.

The initiative included technical field trips, scientific presentations, and daily discussions, promoting direct dialogue between all those involved and highlighting critical issues and local best practices.
Before the official opening, a small group of participants visited the island's emergency infrastructure, in line with national and local Civil Protection evacuation plans. The second day was dedicated to a collaborative analysis of the multi-risk scenario, aimed at identifying strategies to enhance emergency preparedness, while the third day saw an operational discussion between the various actors, during which the next steps were outlined.
A second workshop is already planned to continue the co-design of evacuation and multi-risk preparedness strategies together with the local community.

For the first time in Stromboli, a meeting was held between local institutions and authorities, Civil Protection, scientists and researchers studying the island's hazardousness processes, and community representatives. This approach made it possible to compare operational needs with the perceptions and experiences of citizens, a key element in developing shared and widely accepted risk mitigation strategies.
