Strengthening international scientific relations and exchanging best practices — with these goals in mind, a successful exchange program took place between the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) and Koç University in Istanbul.
The initiative is part of the training and research activities promoted by Erasmus+, and it enabled a Turkish delegation to visit INGV’s headquarters in Rome for five days to explore its research facilities and infrastructures. Particular attention was dedicated to the training activities related to international projects such as:
- European Plate Observing System (EPOS ERIC)
- European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water-column Observatory (EMSO ERIC)
- The international, educational, and knowledge-transfer activities on tsunamis carried out by the INGV Tsunami Alert Centre (CAT-INGV)
- The work conducted within the ARISTOTLE-ENHSP consortium
This experience made it possible to further strengthen the exchange of knowledge, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
