The INGV information centre (infopoint) on Stromboli Island (ME) opens the summer season with a new look. Totally renewed interiors, upgraded with high-resolution screens, VR glasses - through which it is possible to travel along volcano slopes up to the higher emissive vents, while remaining still and cool on your chair - new showcases where volcanic rocks and rock sections are kept and new information panels, offer visitors aged 0 and up, passionate and experts alike, a unique experience.

For more than 20 years, the two Aeolian Volcanoes information centres (the second is on the island of Vulcano) have been offering illustrative and informative tours - suitable for all age groups - aimed at islanders and tourists who visit these unique ecosystems during the summer season.
INGV's expert researchers will welcome you, supported by the invaluable help of university students who will tell you about the eruptions of Stromboli and the Aeolian volcanoes and raise awareness about the volcano's behaviour and, consequently, the appropriate behaviour for living in symbiosis with the giants of nature.
By visiting the centres, you will learn about the recent eruptions that have affected the area you are in and the para-volcanic phenomena that these eruptions have caused, e.g. the 2002 tsunami. Through the projection of images captured by the thermal cameras located on the volcano, you will know, in real time, all the new explosions occurring on the crater (even the smallest ones) and the temperature of the new lava emitted by the volcano and the ash produced by the sudden explosions.

Don't be afraid! Knowing always helps us to react appropriately. The experts will therefore also tell you about the island's recently renovated warning systems, which are currently being tested.

The centres, during the summer season, will be open and freely accessible during working hours (closed for lunch break).

We look forward to seeing you there! Pass the word...
